Ovuplant 2.1mg Implantation Tablets for Horses
Ovuplant 2.1mg Implantation Tablets for Horses Target species: horses (non-pregnant mares). For mares: a zootechnical treatment to induce ovulation within 48 hours, during restoration in normal cycling mares (during the sexual season), with an ovarian follicle with a diameter of more than 30 mm. Mares should be implanted with veterinary medicinal products if a developing ovarian follicle with a diameter greater than 30 mm has been detected by rectal palpation and/or ultrasound. In larger breeds, it may be necessary to wait until the dominant follicle reaches a diameter of 35 mm before administering the veterinary medicinal product.
Ovuplant 2.1mg Implantation Tablets for Horses treated mares must be bred or inseminated within 48 hours. The mare must be monitored to ensure that ovulation has occurred and that further breeding is not necessary. If ovulation does not occur within 48 hours after implantation, continue to breed according to routine management procedures. The follicles for ovulation in mares treated with merlorelin were found to be significantly smaller than those with placebo. However, the treatment had no effect on the percentage of pregnant mares on day 18 or 50. In all studies evaluating conception and pregnancy rates, there were no differences at the end of the study between mares treated with deslorelin and untreated mares.
Ovuplant 2.1mg Implantation Tablets for Horses special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals. Pregnant women should not be given the veterinary medicinal product as GnRH analogs have been shown to be fetotoxic in laboratory animals. When administering the veterinary medicinal product, pay attention to accidental self-injection by ensuring that the animals are properly held and the needle is protected until implantation. In case of accidental self-harm, seek medical advice immediately and remove the implant, as GnRH analogues may have adverse effects on male and female reproductive systems. Although contact with the veterinary medicinal product on the skin is unlikely, in this case, the exposed area must be immediately washed with soap and water, as GnRH analogues may be absorbed through the skin.
