Sedalin Oral Gel 10ml is used for the sedation of horses. The desired effects observed after treatment with Sedalin Oral Gel includes a general tranquilizing effect, anti-emetic effect, and a slight antihistaminic effect. Sedalin should not be used in pregnant or lactating mares. Sedation takes about 6 hours, but the length and depth of sedation are highly variable, depending on the horse (temperament, environment, etc.). Although it offers sedation, there are no analgesic effects (pain relief). The dose may vary depending on the desired level of sedation if only mild sedation is required, give half the recommended dose, but if deep sedation is required, give one and a half times the recommended dose. One syringe performs 5 doses (2 ml) of mild sedation for a 450 kg horse.
Sedalin Oral Gel 10 ml is a sedative for use by the owner or veterinarian if the injectable product is not suitable or indicated, such as transport, cutting, cleaning, clinical examination or dentistry. Sedalin Oral Gel contains ACP (Acepromazine) as an active substance. The gel comes with a volumetric plastic syringe and the gel can be delivered to the corner of your mouth or added to your horse’s food. The simultaneous use of organic phosphate esters increases the toxicity of acepromazine. Since acepromazine decreases sympathetic nervous system tone, it should not be given at the same time as a blood pressure reducing drugs.
